Police arrested a suspect who had stolen more than 100 motorbikes in north Lebanon since the beginning of the year, the Internal Security Forces reported Saturday.

The ISF said in a statement that police apprehended 53-year-old T.R., a Lebanese citizen, after a video circulated on social media showing him stealing a motorbike in Abi Samra neighborhood in the northern city of Tripoli.

He was arrested  by police in Tripoli on Minyeh highway.

The suspect allegedly admitted to stealing more than 100 motorbikes in Tripoli and its suburbs since January.

He also confessed to selling the stolen motorbikes to people in the northern district of Akkar.

Two people who bought motorbikes from the suspect, identified as A.R., 18, and S.R., 30, denied that they had known the bikes were stolen during interrogation.

Investigations are underway to locate the remaining motorbikes.
