The Internal Security Forces  issued a statement announcing the arrest of four people in a trafficking case in the east Lebanon city of Zahle in the Bekaa Valley.

On Tuesday, 23-year-old R.S told police that her husband, Aa.H, had sold their one year old daughter for L.L 1,800,000 ($1,200).

Police managed to arrest the 85-year-old mediator, S.Aa, in the town of Karak, before arresting the couple identified as Aa.R, 49 and A.Gh, 53, who had bought the baby. They were driving along Karak’s main road in a BMW when police caught up to them.

Hours later, police were able to stop the father, who confessed to selling his daughter.

The BMW was confiscated and the baby was returned to her mother. An investigation into the incident is underway.
