The partially burned body of a Palestinian woman - identified as 66-year-old Ahlam Balli - was found in her house in southern Beirut's Burj al-Barajneh area on Sept. 17.

When the suspected couple was arrested, a few days later, the wife confessed to killing the woman, saying it was because Balli had borrowed $7,000 from the couple and was unable to pay them back. The wife entered the victim’s house, threw her on the bed, and suffocated her using a pillow while her husband was outside, acting as a look-out. Afterwards, the husband reportedly tried to burn the victim to get rid of evidence.
