An Army Intelligence patrol unit was subjected to open fire by armed militants in the area of al-Qaa in the Beqaa at approximately 12:16 a.m. on Saturday, whereby the Army patrol members responded by shooting at the gunmen, of Syrian nationality, causing the death of one and the injury of another while arresting the third, a Lebanese Army communiqué indicated.

The injured was transferred to a nearby hospital in the Beqaa, while investigations were initiated into the incident, the communiqué added.
