A woman has confessed to stabbing her two young daughters, killing one and injuring the other in the Bekaa town of Mansoura, the state-run National News Agency reported. The attack took place overnight at around midnight.
The two victims were taken to Saidet Salam hospital in the Bekaa town of Qobeiyat.
Aisha, 6, was stabbed in the neck with a knife and later succumbed to her wounds. Her 9-year-old sister Sarah was initially said to be in critical condition but is now stable, according to a report by the NNA.
The mother, identified as R.I., handed herself in to security forces and admitted to the murder, according to the report, which added that she suffers from mental health issues and has previously attempted suicide.
