Local Metn residents protested against the Internal Security Forces’ attempt to destruct an allegedly illegal building.

ISF were present in large numbers in order to protect members of Jdeideh Municipality who were carrying out the destruction.

The Jdeideh Municipality had reportedly issued a series of warnings to those who built the home, in the town of Roueisat, but these warnings were not complied with.

Residents, captured in local news footage, protested that repercussions for building permit violations are typically only metered out in lower income areas. They tried to resist the ISF’s moves towards the building in question by setting a fire and throwing projectiles at ISF officers.

A dispute also erupted between the security forces and residents in the area who started pelting them with stones, plastic bottles and wooden sticks in a bid to prevent them from implementing an order to remove the violation.
