Masked gunman robs Byblos Bank branch at gunpoint

BEIRUT: A masked gunman robbed a Byblos Bank branch in the north Beirut suburb of Geitawi.

A security source told The Daily Star that the armed man was holding a pump-action rifle and threatened to open fire at employees in the branch.

He fled with approximately LL35M ($23,333).

Security forces arrived at the scene shortly after the robbery and began inspecting surveillance camera photos.

It's not clear if the gunman had accomplices waiting for him outside the bank.
