The Internal Security Forces announced in a statement. on Dec. 26, M.Aa. informed Zgharta’s Majdlaya police station that his brother, W.Aa., had left home around 5 p.m. and not returned. M.Aa. said he had received a text message from W.Aa. asking him for $10,000 to pay a ransom, the statement said. “At 8 a.m. on Dec. 27, a patrol unit from the ISF’s Information Branch arrested the suspect, W.Aa., in Majdlaya, and he was in good health,” it added. The ISF said that during investigations, it came to light that W.Aa. had “fabricated his kidnapping as a result of financial difficulties.”
