A civil society movement member was struck by a stray bullet and severely wounded, “We Want Accountability” announced on its Facebook page.

Hanaa Hammoud, a fourth-year university physics student, was hit in the head by celebratory gunfire from a nearby wedding while on the balcony of her uncle’s house. She was taken to the Chtaura Hospital in critical condition.

The movement condemned the incident saying: “The killing and injuring of innocent civilians continued in their homes and on the streets ... when Hanaa was hit in the head by celebratory gunfire from a nearby wedding in the West Bekaa town of Hawsh Hamira.”

The statement said the suspect, Yassine Khalil Ahmad, turned himself in.
