The ISF announced in a statement Thursday it had arrested a man who was seen beating his wife in a video that circulated on social media earlier this week. The statement said the video, shared Monday, showed a man beating his wife while she was “holding a child no older than 2 months old and another child who is around a year old sitting by her side.” The ISF said “within eight hours” of the video’s publication, police determined the identity of the man and arrested him at his house in the southern coastal town of Sarafand shortly thereafter. The statement identified the man as Syrian national S.Z. and his wife as Lebanese national S.N. According to the statement, S.Z. admitted, while under interrogation, to being in Lebanon illegally since his residence papers have expired.
