A man was kidnapped and then released in Zahle following a possible financial dispute, a security source told The Daily Star.

The victim, identified by the source as 25-year-old Ibrahim Bassam Younes, was kidnapped from his father’s barber shop in Zahle’s Taalabaya, reportedly by Palestinian suspect Tarek Abdel-Halim.

Abdel-Halim reportedly shot Younes' father Bassam in the leg, before forcing Younes into his silver Honda and driving to nearby Saadnayel. At that point, the suspect released Younes and fled.

The source said it was likely security forces had knowledge of the car and were pursuing it. He added that preliminary information suggested there was a material dispute between Abdel-Halim and either Younes or Younes’ father.

Security forces are still looking for the kidnapper, the source said.
