A woman and her alleged lover have been arrested after the body of a murdered man was uncovered in Western Bekaa’s Qaraoun this weekend, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement Monday.

A.S., born in 1985, was found dead Sunday, with marks to his head that were believed to have been made by a sharp knife. His veins had been slashed, the statement said.

Within 24 hours of this discovery, two suspects in A.S.’s killing had been arrested in the Bekaa, the ISF said.

The two suspects were identified as A.S.’s wife, Syrian national Y.Sh., born in 1992, and a man identified as her lover, Syrian national L.S., born in 2000.

The suspects have allegedly admitted to committing murder, motivated by their extra-marital affair they were engaged in.

A knife and a wooden stick found at the crime scene are believed to have been used to commit the murder.

The investigation has been referred to the judiciary, the statement said.
