Authorities have found the body of a man who went missing more than two months ago, local media reported Tuesday, after neighbors complained of an unpleasant smell coming from his Ashrafieh apartment.

Neighbors have been reporting a “repulsive smell” coming from the apartment in Ashrafieh’s Rmeil area for almost three months, local news outlet Al-Jadeed reported.

“It had been three months that we didn’t see our neighbor and there was a repulsive smell coming from his house,” one resident of the building told Al-Jadeed, adding that he and others in the building suspected that the man may have died. Neighbors sent multiple complains to security forces, who eventually came to the house to investigate, he said.

The deceased was unmarried, neighbors told local media, and he lived alone in the building’s fifth floor. The cause of his death remained unclear from initial reports Tuesday.
