A suspected drug dealer was shot and killed Monday by Internal Security Forces following an attempted escape during which his car rammed officers on patrol in the Metn area of Jdeideh.
The suspect, identified as Lebanese A.Sh., born in 1973, was wounded in the gunfire following his attempted escape on Saturday, but died soon after at a hospital, an ISF source told The Daily Star. ISF said they found 20 g of cocaine in his car in addition to 10 g of “buzz,” a cocaine derivative, as well as a scale and bags used for drug dealing. They also found $3,590 and LL2,555,000 ($1,695).
The source said the ISF believed this suspect to be a dangerous criminal and that his actions in ramming into officers could have resulted in the death of ISF members. They claimed the actions of the officers in shooting the suspect were therefore justified. “Of course we don’t want anyone to die, that would be the perfect operation,” the source said, adding that an investigation had been launched into the incident.
