أفادت معلومات صحفية بأنه "عناصر مخفر جبيل في قوى الأمن الداخلي، أوقفوا بعد ظهر اليوم في محلة حالات، اللبناني م. ي. مواليد عام 1984، بتهمة الترويج لعملة مزورة".

وأشارت المعلومات الى أن "توقيفه جاء بعد عمليات رصد ومتابعة له بدأت منذ حوالي الاسبوع، حيث كان يقوم بالترويج للعملة بين عمشيت وجبيل، عبر طلب الطعام ويدفع عملة مزورة، فتم تعميم رقمه بين المطاعم وابلاغ قوى الأمن الداخلي اليوم، وعندما اتصل بأحد المطاعم في جبيل اليوم طالبا الطعام، ألقى عناصر قوى الأمن القبض عليه".
