A man suspected of killing his wife and attempting to disguise the murder as a suicide reenacted the crime Wednesday in the presence of a lawyer handling the case and the police.

The reenactment was observed by Attorney-General for the Court of Appeals in Mount Lebanon Tanios Saghbini. At the crime scene, the suspect – identified as Syrian national A.S., born in 1993 – described and acted out the details of the murder, which occurred over a month ago, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.

A.S. was arrested Tuesday after the ISF learned he was planning to leave to Syria via a smuggling route.

He is the husband of the victim, identified as Lebanese national Kh.Aa., born in 1990.

Detailing the crime, the ISF said the victim had been found on June 12 in Jbeil’s Fidar area, locked inside her own bathroom.

Given the circumstances, suicide was considered the cause of death.

The ISF said a team from its Information Division investigated the incident because forensic medicine was unable to determine the cause of death due to the state of the body.

Once apprehended, the suspect confessed to strangling his wife and dragging her into the bathroom, locking the door from the inside.

This security incident was mapped according to the closest possible location.
