Man arrested after stealing safe and over $30,000

A Syrian man who stole a safe with over $400,000 worth of items was arrested and forced to return the stolen goods, the Internal Security Forces said Tuesday.

“On Aug. 16, a house in north Lebanon’s Minyeh was robbed. A safe was stolen with about LL53,000,000 ($35,169) in addition to a number of checks and other documentation, amounting to around LL600,000,000,” an ISF statement read.

In less than 10 hours, the ISF was able to identify the suspect and arrested him. The Syrian national, identified as Aa.D. and born in 1986, was arrested with $3,850 and LL400,000 in his possession. During interrogation he admitted to the robbery. In his house, LL35,000,000 and a pistol were found. The money was returned to its owner.
