BEIRUT: Longtime tenants briefly blocked a vital Beirut juncture during a new protest against a contentious rent law, state media reported.

Demonstrators gathered at the intersection of Pierre Gemayel Avenue and Damascus Road in front of the Lebanese National Museum, commonly known as Mathaf Road, jamming one of the capital’s most congested avenues, the National News Agency said.

The protest was organized by a group of tenants called the Tenants’ Rights Defense Committee.
