General Security Thursday reminded Syrian refugees who have entered the county illegally and seek to return home that they have until the end of the year to go back to Syria without paying fines. In a statement, the security agency said Syrian refugees with an illegal status in Lebanon who want to return to Syria should go to their nearest General Security border center to cross without paying fines. The agency’s reminder is in line with a recent Cabinet decision to allow Syrians who had crossed into Lebanon illegally to return home, exempted from paying penalty fees. Refugees have until Dec. 31, 2014 to settle their illegal status.
