General Security Thursday announced the arrest of what it said was a prominent ISIS leader and other suspected militants who were based in the southern Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh.
It said via its Twitter account that the main suspect, who was not identified, was a "legitimate leader" of an ISIS cell plotting to carry out attacks in Lebanon. It did not specify his nationality.
A security source told The Daily Star that General Security arrested the suspect in cooperation with the Lebanese Army as he attempted to cross into Syria from north Lebanon.
