BEIRUT: Mount Lebanon police arrested two men suspected of involvement in almost 50 armed robberies, the Internal Security Forces announced. Municipal police in the Choueifat area detained a 22-year-old Syrian and a Palestinian, 24, over suspicions of pick-pocketing and thefts in areas south of the capital, the statement said. Authorities impounded a motorbike they were riding, and confiscated a pistol, knife, gloves and a small quantity of drugs. According to the statement, the two suspects admitted to committing more than 50 robberies at gunpoint, stealing mobile phones and money from people around airport road and near Khaldeh in Mount Lebanon.
