BEIRUT: Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in east Lebanon's Bekaa Valley suspected of murdering a soldier, the Internal Security Forces said.

It is not clear when the crime occurred.

The suspect, identified as M.Z., is also charged with the attempted murder of soldiers and the unlicensed possession of arms, the ISF added.

He was detainedon a police checkpoint in the town of Riyaq.

The suspect was referred to the judiciary.
