BEIRUT: Authorities arrested a 29-year-old suspect on charges of belonging to a militant group, state media reported.

State Security directorate said that Osama B. was arrested in the town of Mhamara in the northern district of Dinnieh, the National News Agency said.

The suspect will be referred to the judiciary for questioning.

The army and security forces have been cracking down on sleeper cells as part of a comprehensive security plan after the northeastern border town of Arsal in the Bekaa Valley was briefly overrun by extremists in 2014.
