Police Friday announced the arrest of a young Palestinian suspected of shooting dead an official inside a Beirut refugee camp one day earlier.
In a statement, the Internal Security Forces said it had arrested M.Q., born in 1994, over suspicion of killing Ahmad Hazeini, an official from the Fatah al-Intifada group, in the Shatila refugee camp.
The Syria-based Palestinian group is allied with Damascus in the country's five-year-long war, but it was unclear if the murder suspect's motivations were political.
The ISF statement said the suspect admitted to shooting Hazeini for "personal" reasons.
