North Lebanon’s Wadi Khaled university graduates demonstrated to demand that their employment be prioritized over others for local jobs, state media reported.

The protesters, who briefly blocked the main road at the town's entrance, demanded to obtain jobs in civil, educational and military posts.

“This protest is not against any of the colleagues who come from other regions ... it's a message to politicians, who had omitted Wadi Khaled from the map of the republic,” one of the protesters Mohammad al-Asaad said on behalf of the demonstrators.

Asaad stressed the need for cooperation and coordination with the town's prominent figures to reclaim "the rights of the town's residents."

Wadi Khaled is a rural region in northeast Lebanon, on the border with Syria.

The region is notorious for its low standards of living and poor infrastructure.
