The Lebanese Army has been securing the outskirts of the northeasten towns of Arsal, Ras Baalbek and al-Qaa following separate Hezbollah and Army operations in July and August that expelled Daesh (ISIS) and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham – the militant group formerly known as the Nusra Front – from the area, where they had been holed up since at least 2014.
On the 9th of October, a Lebanese Army adjutant in the Army's engineering corps was lightly wounded by a landmine that was being dismantled in the outskirts of Ras Baalbeck. The wounded man was taken by army helicopter to hospital for treatment.
