أعلنت وزارة المالية أنّ "الجمارك اللبنانية في مرفأ بيروت، ضبطت سيارتين حديثتين من الطراز الفخم، واحدة "مرسيدس" وأخرى "ب . م" مهرّبتان من الخارج، وقد أُزيلت عنها بطريقة احترافية أرقام الهيكل الخاص بهما"، مشثيرةً إلى أنّ "بعد عملية متابعة واستدراج نوعية، أوقف أحد المتورطين مع آخرين في عملية التهريب، وهو سوري الجنسية، وتبيّن أنّ المجموعة المتورّطة في عملية تهريب السيارتين مرتبطة بعصابة دولية للمتاجرة بالسيارات غير الشرعية".

وأوضحت أنّه "تمّ ضبط السيارتين وأوقف السوري بإشراف القضاء المختص"، مركّزةً على "أنّها المرّة الأولى منذ فترة طويلة الّتي توضع فيها اليد على عملية تهريب مماثلة".
