On 27 Dec 16, the Lebanese Army arrested a suspect over possible terror links. Lebanese Army Intelligence said he was referred to the relevant judiciary for “being a member of Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization.” The Lebanese national allegedly planned "to carry out terrorist activities," the statement said. No further clarifications were provided. Lebanese security forces regularly carries out such arrests as a pre-emptive measure against hard-line groups and to break up sleeper cells.
