The Lebanese Army arrested two people in the Bekaa’s Hermel for instigating unrest and taking part in shootouts in the area.
The Army said in a statement that its intelligence unit arrested Nidal Hamadeh, who was wanted for shooting and injuring one person. “[He is also wanted] for inciting disputes recently between two of the town’s families,” the Army said.
Separately, Army Intelligence arrested Marwan Shamel Jaafar for taking part in shootouts, while an unspecified amount of various types of drugs were found in his possession, the statement said.
The state-run National News Agency said that Jaafar was arrested at an Army checkpoint in the area and had not been carrying identity documents.
The two detainees were referred to the relevant judicial authorities for investigation.
The Army arrests come as the Baalbeck-Hermel province has been witnessing a series of security incidents that has prompted locals and political figures to urge security agencies to take control of the situation.

This security incident was mapped according to the closest possible location.
