Two were arrested in east Lebanon after police thwarted a cross-border smuggling operation, Internal Security Forces announced Wednesday.

An alleged Lebanese smuggler and a Syrian counterpart were arrested in the town of al-Soueiri in the Bekaa region in their blue and white pickup truck. They tried to smuggle 33 Syrians, of which seven were children. The Lebanese was identified as 22-year-old A.A., and his Syrian counterpart as 28-year-old- S.S.The vehicle was confiscated, and the two were transferred to judiciary.
