BEIRUT: An armed fight erupted overnight Monday between members of Al-Masri family in east Lebanon over previous disputes. The state-run National News Agency reported that a gas station and two houses belonging to Hatem and Hussein Hatem Al-Masri respectively, and a Jeep vehicle were set on fire in the Bekka village of Hor Taala. Heavy and medium weapons were used in the battle between members of the Masri family over last month's death of Ali Shawqi Al-Masri. Ali was killed in February after being shot in the neck during a dispute with other family members. The army had deployed heavily in the area Tuesday in an attempt to restore calm. But heightened tensions remain. The nature of the dispute in unclear.
