افادت قيادة الجيش مديرية التوجيه، في بيان لها، بأنه "في إطار الإجراءات الأمنية المتخذة من قبل وحدات الجيش في مختلف المناطق اللبنانية، ونتيجة للمتابعة، دهمت دورية من مديرية المخابرات بتاريخه في بلدة المرج البقاع الغربي، منازل أفراد عصابة تقوم بتنفيذ عمليات سرقة طالت عدة قرى في منطقتي البقاع الغربي والأوسط"، مشيرةً الى أنه "تم توقيف كل من السوريين أ. م. ح.، م. م. ح.، وع. و. خ. خ.، كما أوقفت المدعو ع. ه. ف.، لإقدامه بتواريخ مختلفة على شراء المسروقات من العصابة المذكورة"
