BEIRUT: The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections called on rival parties to stop discussing a new electoral law and to begin preparations for the upcoming polls.

Head of LADE Zeina Helou said during a small rally in Beirut's Sanayeh outside the Interior Ministry that parties should "end deliberations on the new electoral law and move straight to [conducting] timely elections."

She called on President Michel Aoun to immediately sign a decree inviting voters to prepare for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk signed the decree in February.
