Israeli Army unit crosses Blue Line on Lebanon’s south east border
An Israeli Army unit crossed the Blue Line on Lebanon’s southeast border, before withdrawing later in the afternoon, a source told The Daily Star.
An Israeli Army infantry unit, with the support of two Merkava tanks, five Hummer vehicles and a military SUV, crossed the Blue Line that was demarcated after the Israeli Army withdrew in 2000, opposite the Bawabat Hassan neighborhood in Hasbaya’s Kfar Shuba, Hezbollah's War Media center had said on Twitter.
The breach is one of many routine violations of the Blue Line, the source said. Despite relative calm since 2006, following a 34-day war on Lebanon ending with a UN-brokered ceasefire, the Israeli Army routinely breaches Lebanese territorial waters and airspace. Lebanon has also complained to UN Security Council of repetitive breaches on land.
