On July 16–18, 2006: - In the village of Aytaroun, two Israeli air strikes killed 21 civilians, many of them children, including six children younger than 12 and elderly people. - The Israeli Air Force hit a 13-story building in Sour where dozens of civilians from villages from the south had sought refuge. At least 11 were killed. - July 18, 2006: A family of nine, including five children, was killed by an Israeli air strike on two houses in the village of Aytaroun. Hezbollah had been firing rockets from inside the village, but none of the victims had any connections with Hezbollah.
