ISF thwarts Kesrouan bank robbery
The Internal Security Forces said it thwarted a planned armed bank robbery set to take place in Kesrouan’s Ghazir, according to a statement released by the agency Sunday.
The robbery, which had been planned for Monday, was thwarted after the police station in Chouf’s Beiteddine received a tip that members of a gang were planning to carry out the operation.
“As a result of extensive investigations, the police station was able to identify the suspects, and after placing them under its scrutiny, it turned out that they bought arms, masks and helmets and had stolen a motorcycle from Ghazir to be used in the operation,” the statement said.
On Aug. 17, police raided a house in Baabda’s Tahwitat al-Ghadir, arresting Syrian nationals S.Sh., born in 1992, and T.A.a., born in 1991.
A 7mm weapon and bullets were seized in addition to the masks, motorcycle and helmets.
“During investigations with them, they confessed to their doing and said that the operation’s date was to be Aug. 20, and they confessed that they were planning to rob the bank,” the statement said.
