ISF inspect hashish farms in north Bekaa

The Internal Security Forces announced Thursday the inspection of hashish farms in the northern Bekaa Valley as part of an ongoing anti-narcotics operation, a security source told The Daily Star.

On Wednesday, the ISF discovered that, in Hermel, 150,000 square meters of land have been planted with hashish, with plants 20 cm to 30 cm tall, the source said.

Elsewhere, in the Baalbek town of Ain al-Sawda, police found 400,000 sq. meters of land cultivated with hashish, with the plants’ heights ranging from 50 cm to 80 cm.

“This comes amid a series of inspections, and the total area of land dedicated to growing hashish in the northern Bekaa is 31,215,000 sq. meters,” the source said.
