On 23 Feb 15, Anti-drug Office affiliated to the Judicial Police Unit reported that it has managed after thorough follow-up and close monitoring, to foil in Lebanon the largest qualitative "raw cannabis" smuggling operation into Libya on 21 Feb 15. The Judicial police seized in the operation around 250 tons of cannabis plants, worth USD 7 million, which was intended to be smuggled across the sea into Libya within a shipment of apples. The main person involved in this smuggling operation, who is a Syrian national, was arrested.
