ISF said in a statement a police patrol stopped a 14-year-old Lebanese teenager, identified only by his initials R.K., on August 7 as he was trying to enter the Grand Mansouri Mosque.

After he was searched, two hand grenades were found in a bag he was carrying.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed he belonged to Daesh and had planned to attack worshippers during afternoon prayers.

It added that the would-be attacker chose the mosque because it was usually crowded and frequented by policemen and tourists.
