A terror suspect with links to Abdullah Azzam Brigades emir Sirajeddine Zureiqat has been arrested by Lebanese security forces, according to a report published Wednesday by Al-Akhbar.
The suspect, who was identified by his initials Y.A, is currently being held by the ISF’s Information Branch and has confessed to his relationship with Zureiqat, according to the report.
The suspect has also confessed to transporting Zueiqat from the Bekaa Valley to the Syrian Qalamoun region, where he is said to be currently residing.
The Abdullah Azzam Brigades, Lebanon's Al-Qaeda affiliate, have claimed responsibility for two suicide attacks in Beirut, including the Iranian embassy twin bombing last year that killed about 30 people, and a twin blast at the Iranian cultural center in February.

Lebanon’s Military Court has issued an arrest warrant and a death sentence against Zureiqat in absentia.

Like other jihadi groups, the Abdullah Azzam brigades have justified their attacks in Lebanon by pointing to Hezbollah's intervention in the Syrian conflict on the side of government forces.
