ISF come under attack while apprehending suspected drug dealers

On 11 Jan 17, Internal Security Forces members came under fire at night as they attempted to arrest two men over drug charges. The ISF apprehended 22-year-old Syrian national “B.H.” in the Cola district as he allegedly tried to acquire drugs from 39-year-old “S.H.,” a Palestinian national. “S.H.” was in a parked car, and tried to escape on foot while the Syrian National was being detained. As an ISF patrol gave chase, a third suspect, driving a Hyundai I-10 hit one of the officers in order to help the Palestinian suspect escape. He hit a number of other cars and opened fire on the ISF patrol before escaping. His whereabouts remain unknown. The Palestinian National was arrested. He was wanted on over 26 arrest warrants. Charges include murder, organizing a robbery ring, dealing and trafficking drugs and firing a weapon. The ISF also confiscated pills, salvia as well as plastic bags used to pack and deal drugs. The two suspects were referred to authorities for further questioning. A search is underway for the third suspect.
