أعلنت المديرية العامة لقوى الأمن الداخلي، أنّه "توافرت معلومات لدى شعبة المعلومات في قوى الأمن الداخلي عن قيام أحد الأشخاص من الجنسية السورية بالاعتداء جنسيًّا على ابنته القاصر (14 سنة)، وذلك في منزله الكائن في محلة وادي مجدليا - عالية".
وأوضحت في بلاغ، أنّ "على أثر ذلك، كلّفت هذه الشعبة قطعاتها المختصّة للتأكّد من صحّة المعلومات، وبنتيجة المتابعة الميدانيّة الّتي قامت بها دوريّاتها، توصّلت إلى تحديد كامل هوية الفاعل، ويُدعى: "ع. أ." وهو سوري من مواليد عام 1977؛ وتبيّن أنّه من أصحاب السمعة السيّئة، مدمنٌ على الكحول، ومطلوب للقضاء بجرم سكر ظاهر"
