The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) issued a statement on Tuesday saying that a group of people were arrested for carrying out fraudulent activities against displaced Syrians in the Bekaa region.
The statement explained that a group of people scammed Syrian refugees into thinking that they were a travel agency that can offer them flights into European states.
A.B. (Lebanese national born in 1996) and T.G. (Lebanese, 1997) were arrested and confessed to using female aliases in a chat site known as wechat to communicate with various people from the Arab communities and delude them into thinking that they were travel agents to a non-existent company called MTL with the purpose of blackmailing them.
The ISF found with the two culprits receipts that range from 100 USD to 800 USD for each applicant from aforementioned refugees.
