The Internal Security Forces busted a smuggling operation involving 10 large containers of pharmaceutical drugs brought in from Turkey, an ISF statement announced.

The ISF arrested Lebanese and Syrian nationals during a raid Monday afternoon. The suspects were unloading the pharmaceuticals from a Mercedes truck in the Saqi area, close to Tripoli’s Bab al-Tabbaneh.

During questioning, they admitted to illegally bringing in the boxes into Lebanon with the help of a Turkish contact. They had transported the boxes hidden inside fuel and water tanks.

The court released those involved, while the seized products were handed over to Customs.

The case was referred to the Financial Crimes Office for further investigation.
