The Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of a man who was reportedly carrying over 90 packages of cocaine at the time of his detention.

Upon his arrest on March 6 in Sin al-Fil, the suspect, identified as Lebanese national Gh.A., in his forties, was reportedly found to be in possession of 68 plastic bags of cocaine, 24 envelopes of crack cocaine and eight packages of various medicines.

The arrest earlier this week was the result of a period of observation and pursuit, according to the ISF statement.

The accused was taken to the Central Office of Drug Enforcement in order for the investigation into his case to be expanded, the ISF said.

Illicit drug trade and abuse is a "rampant" social problem in the Mount Lebanon governorate, where the accused was arrested, the statement read.
