ISF arrests man in Bekaa for transporting drugs to Beirut

Checkpoint personnel in the Bekaa Valley arrested a man this week who was allegedly en route to Beirut with a sizable amount of illegal drugs.

Authorities stopped the man, who was driving a rented van, at the Dhaher checkpoint along the road from Baalbeck to Beirut . There, checkpoint personnel discovered 200 grams of powdered “kief” marijuana, 5 grams of the hallucinogen salvia, 2 grams of cocaine and an unidentified pill in his possession.

The man, in his late 40s, had stashed the drugs in an empty bottle of Jagermeister, a photo released by the ISF showed. Authorities identified the man as Aa. A., though did not yet have information on his nationality.

Local authorities transferred the suspect to Bekaa Valley’s drug enforcement office to “broaden the investigation with him.
