ISF arrests a Lebanese national involved car theft ring
The Internal Security Forces announced Thursday that it arrested two members of a car theft ring wearing religious clothing while transporting stolen vehicles.
“On the night of Jan. 13, the ISF Information Branch carefully observed the movements of two members of the ring and arrested them separately in Dahr al-Baydar heading to Beirut from the Bekaa Valley,” a statement from the ISF said.
The men were driving two stolen cars – a Datsun Tarza and a Nissan Micra. Aa.D., a Lebanese national born in 1987, was arrested for dealing drugs while Aa.Z., Lebanese national born in 1982, was arrested for dealing in weapons and drugs. Hashish was confiscated from the car Aa.Z. was driving.
During investigations, the two admitted to stealing cars from a number of Lebanese towns. They also admitted to wearing religious clothing as a disguise while transporting cars to the Bekaa Valley and to using narcotics. The two have been referred to the judiciary and investigations are ongoing to apprehend accomplices.
