ISF arrests forgers using fake checks to buy electronics

The Internal Security Forces arrested two people on suspicion of using forged checks to purchase electronic goods, an ISF statement reported.

After chatting with sellers online, Lebanese national R.M., 30 and Syrian national A.S. sent a taxi driver to claim the items and pay with a forged check.

After their arrests, the two reportedly admitted to buying 20 laptops from a hardware store with a fake $8,000 check.

The stolen devices were returned and the two suspects were referred to the judiciary.

The duo also said they had re-sold other stolen electronic devices to third parties. An accomplice and fellow check forger, Lebanese national I.F., 24, has a warrant out for his arrest and is being pursued by the ISF.
