A suspect was arrested in a restaurant in the town of Khaldeh on the charge of robbery, a statement from the Internal Security Forces said Sunday.

A complaint was filed Tuesday to Aley’s Souk al-Gharb police station by a resident claiming that someone had broken into a house in Bmekkin and stolen a metal safe containing $3,000 dollars in cash as well as gold jewelry valued at approximately $42,000.

The suspect, identified as M.A, a Palestinian national born in 1974, was arrested Thursday with $2,800 and some of the jewelry in his possession. He admitted to having carried out the robbery by himself, using his wife’s car. He had previously been imprisoned for the same charge and had been released in 2017.
