حصلت في الآونة الأخيرة عدة عمليات هجرة غير شرعية عن طريق البحر. بنتيجة المتابعة الحثيثة من قبل شعبة المعلومات في قوى الامن الداخلي بغية الحد من هذه الظاهرة، تمكنت بتاريخ 29/12/2018 وعلى شاطئ الشيخ زناد / العبدة من توقيف:
23 شخصا (10رجال، 4نساء و9أولاد) من الجنسية السورية، واللبناني (ا.ع مواليد 1998)، وقد صرحوا بأنهم كانوا يحاولون مغادرة الأراضي اللبنانية الى قبرص بواسطة مركب يجهلونه.
